So It’s Spring! 2018! Let’s look back at all those “New Year Resolutions” we love to make and always fail to accomplish. How many did you get to check off your list this time? None? Ehh! No one ever actually achieves those anyway. But with Spring, comes change! So why not start now?!
I am learning that my biggest fear is change; the fear of the unknown. But the best way to change your life, is to change yourself! These five tips should be at the top of your list if you’re not already implementing these in your life!
- Self-Love is the Best Love!
I know, I know, I know! Sounds cliché. But it really is true. You have to take care of you! If you don’t, who else is going to? Do something nice for yourself. Take time out for yourself and don’t let anyone interrupt this time either. My thing is to just sit and do NOTHING! With four boys and working full time, I am one busy mama! There’s always something to be done, so whenever I get the chance, I love to curl up on my couch and binge watch old episodes of Law & Order or Netflix. For me, this is usually when my kids are asleep. I LOOOONG for that moment of silence…of peace. It may not be often but BOY (haha) is it golden! Another thing I like to do is take a long, hot bubble bath, light candles, turn on the music, and just relax.
- Learn the Word of No
And I mean that in the nicest way possible. If someone or something is threatening your peace of mind or sanity; you’re allowed to say no or walk away. Do not allow others to hold you hostage in your own mind. I know how it feels when something bothers you so much, that it literally occupies all the free space in your head; when it burns you up inside. You are not obligated to do ANYTHING for ANYONE (unless of course they’re you kids…or your spouse…or your parents.) other than that, the way I see it, everyone is given the same 24 hours in a day. What they choose to do with theirs is their business. You are not obligated to fix them.
I’m a firm believer in Jesus Christ. I may not go to church every Sunday, but I know I serve an almighty God and have everlasting faith in him. He has showed up and showed out in so many instances in my life. I pray when I’m down, I pray when I’m happy, I pray when I’m in doubt; When I need God’s mercy or when I’m thanking him for his mercy, I PRAY!
- Set Goals
Set goals! Create a plan and stick as closely to it as possible!
Your goals don’t have to be big or major. It could be something as small as getting up on time every morning. The only way to move forward, is to pace yourself and slowly take steps towards the finish line. One thing I did this year was make a Vision Board so that I could visualize all the things that I want out of life. Not necessarily this year, but in general. Being able to physically look at something helps to keep focus on the end result
5. Create Peace in Your Life
Life is too short for negativity. I for one have no time for the shenanigans. If your friends, love life, or job, makes you unhappy, LET 👏🏾 IT 👏🏾 GO 👏🏾! You can find new friends. You can get a new job! And honestly, anything less than a husband or wife can be temporary anyway. The sooner you get rid of the negative energy, the better! Have you ever thought that things aren’t going right for you because of the company you keep? Is it possible that the negativity you’re surrounded by is blocking your blessings? Or maybe you’re blocking your own blessing! It’ll be easier to figure out what’s what, when you eliminate the bad eggs.
And when all else fails, just remember to live life! Life is a gift no matter what. Tomorrow is never promised. Don’t live life wishing you had said this or hoping you had done that. Do what makes you happy and if it doesn’t, then don’t! Life can be so simple when you take charge of your own 😉 PEACE ✌🏾
